That Long Walk, A Bucks at The Snow, and a Tom Cruise Cruise

Our Oxfam adventure feels like YEARS ago! We walked 17 hours through heat, rain and calf deep water before bowing out at 60k due to stomach issues (yours truly) and compartment syndrome (John). It was all fun and games until I threw up (twice) and John could barely walk five feet without excruciating pain. Our teammates powered through and finished in just under 30 hours. Although it's not what we envisioned, I'm proud of how far we made it. Sometimes you just gotta listen to your body! We had an awesome support crew who helped us along throughout the grueling event. Some cray cray stats that made us feel a little better for not being able to finish:

Started: 460 teams, 1,840 walkers
Finished: 413 teams – 89.78%, 1,273 walkers – 69.18%
Teams finished with all 4 walkers: 165 – 35.87%
Average time: 32 hrs 20 mins

Our team raised over $4,000 for Oxfam, which I am really proud of. Overall, it was a good experience... but I never ever ever want to do it again. Ever.

(there are no pictures from when we pulled out at 1am, but let's just say there was blood, sweat, and tears)

We can't talk about it...

We had a nice hotel room booked in the CBD for after the race.. the best decision we ever made! Relaxation, breakfast in bed, and a Ben Folds concert at the Opera House!

Hobbling/smiling through the pain...

The stairs to our seats. Someone's idea of a cruel joke! Our poor bodies barely made it.. and we missed the first song because of it!

Rudy stayed with some friends while we were away-

Now that the walk is over... we have so much free time! I celebrated Fran's birthday...

Took some glamour shots...

And we had our first spring beach day!

John spent a weekend "at a bucks at the snow" aka a bachelor party in Thredbo (Australia's cute attempt at a ski resort). John didn't ski because of the Oxfam injury but had a great time nonetheless!

And Whitney turned 30! She hired out a big boat and threw a party- The Tom Cruise Cruise. We all dressed as a Tom Cruise character, ate, drank, and enjoyed the sunshine. It was a great day on the water!
(I mean, the resemblance is stunning!)

Man... this city is a beaut.
